Joint Opinion on the Conclusion of the Review of the Political Parties (Registration and Regulation) (Amendment) Bill, 2025 (Member’s Bill no. 2 of 2025)

The Ombudsman and the Seychelles Human Rights Commission issued and submitted its Joint Opinion on the Conclusion of the Review of the Political Parties (Registration and Regulation) (Amendment) Bill, 2025 (Member’s Bill no. 2 of 2025) (the Bill) to the President and the National Assembly through the Speaker, with a carbon copy sent to the Electoral Commission on the 3rd of July 2025 (the Joint Report).

The Joint Report, among other things, recommended engagement for dialogue through an invitation to the National Assembly and the Office of the President. This invitation has not been acted upon to date.

It is to be noted that the Bill was assented to by the President on the 7th of July 2025, and published in the Official Gazette on the 11th of July 2025, thus enacting it into law, as the Political Parties (Registration and Regulation) (Amendment) (No.2) Act, 2025.
